Happy new year, everyone!

While we’re almost two weeks into 2021, I am excited to bring this book review blog back to life! I have been reading more and am eager to share my thoughts, and hear yours as well.

What I’m reading this month:

Exhalation by Ted Chiang

My ears perked up as soon as I heard sci-fi and short stories in the same sentence. I just wanted something to snack on as an escape treat throughout the month of December when everything else in my life was pretty chaotic. Turns out, some of these short stories are pretty long and I had to renew the loan from the library. So far I’ve enjoyed it.

Outlawed by Anna North

Say what!? Both Belletrist and Reese picked this book for their January book club pick and it just so happened to also be my final pick from Book of the Month. Must be fate. I’ve never been big on westerns, but I couldn’t say no after reading the synopsis! Hoping for a laugh or two.

Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips

Ooooh! I’m about halfway through this one as I write this post. It’s the Girly Book Club pick for January and I was able to get it from the library on my kindle without waiting so I figured that was a sign to read along again with the wonderful GBC!

The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

My intention (or goal) for 2021 is to be more mindful and present. And, a good friend is hosting a meditation and mindfulness book club series this month and we’re reading this book. It was originally a letter from Hanh, so it isn’t terribly long yet full of good nuggets to discuss!

Skill in Action by Michelle Cassandra Johnson

This is another book I’m reading as part of a 7-week yoga + book club series. Haven’t cracked this one open, but I have a feeling it’s another one of those books I’ll be underlining and re-reading for years to come.

This year I set a personal goal to read 24 books, or 2 per month. And based on the books I plan to read this month, I’m already ahead of myself.

What books are you reading this month? Please do tell in the comments below or find us on social.

Cheers!
