New month. New books to fall in love with!

See what I did there? A bit ironic as I’m very single and very much opposed to the heart-filled “holiday” on February 14th.

I love them. I love them not.

Here’s what I’m planning to read this month, and perhaps one or two will sweep you off your feet as well!

Amber’s February TBR pile:

The Pull of Stars by Emma Donaghugh

The library loan on my kindle expires in a couple weeks so I’m hoping to cruise through this one in the next day or so. I’ve heard from others it’s a quick read, and it’s timely being based in the 1918 flu pandemic.

Recursion by Blake Crouch

This is The Girly Book Club pick this month and I’m quite excited as I LOVED Dark Matter. If it’s anything like his other books, I know this will be a thrilling ride that keeps my attention.

White Fragility by Robin Diangelo

While I’m continuing to do the work and learn, most importantly un-learn, this was one of the books I ordered last fall along with Hood Feminism and Me and White Supremacy. This was the title chosen by my company’s African American Resource Group for the Q1 book club, so I’m looking forward to reading and discussing this one.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Can you believe that I have yet to read anything from Jane Austen? Me too! This was a gift from my sister this past Christmas and I can’t wait to crack it open and add a classic to my read pile.

Trick Mirror by Jia Tolentino

I picked Trick Mirror up after it was recommended by a friend. A goal of mine is to read more non-fiction and I’ve enjoyed a few other books filled with essays. They’re easier to pick up when I have limited time during my lunch breaks, if I’m lucky enough to get one.

In case you’re wondering, these were the books I set off to read in January. I was able to get through most of them with only one being a DNF! Stay tuned for the reviews.
